Submit a device, app, or site

We accept submissions from anyone — users, researchers, journalists, and the rated parties themselves. Submissions go into the editorial intake queue and are considered for the next Sunday or Wednesday rating batch.

What we consider

  • Consumer hardware with internet connectivity (cameras, wearables, IoT, phones, laptops)
  • Consumer apps and services (messaging, social, productivity, finance, health)
  • Websites that collect or process personal data at scale
  • AI tools and assistants (chat, voice, companion, agent)
  • Privacy laws and regulations (bills, statutes, enforcement actions — at any level of government)

What makes a submission strong

  • Verifiable sources. Regulator filings (FTC, AGs, EU DPAs), reputable press, court documents, peer-reviewed research, vendor policies. We do not publish from un-cited assertions.
  • Specific claim. "TikTok's 2026 policy expanded location collection" is rateable; "TikTok is bad" is not.
  • Recent. We weight events from the last 24 months unless the older context is foundational (e.g. landmark settlements).
  • Reproducible. If your claim depends on a screenshot or a test, please describe how a third party could re-verify.

What happens next

  1. Acknowledgement reply within 5 business days.
  2. Editorial review queues the submission. Strong submissions (verifiable sources + specific claim) typically reach the rating bench within 1–2 weeks.
  3. The rating is produced under our published methodology and reviewed before publication.
  4. On publication day, the rating goes live on sovereignware.org/ratings/ with full sources, beacon state, and right-of-reply contact.

If you are the rated party

You're welcome here too. Submissions from companies about their own products are accepted and clearly noted. We will hold material claims to the same source-verification standard. If a rating already exists and you wish to respond, see our right-of-reply policy.
